Biography

Christopher Albrecht is a trumpet teacher and performer in the Phoenix area. Albrecht currently teaches trumpet at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona and at the Arizona State University School of Music Prep Program. He has recently received ABD status in his work towards a DMA degree in Trumpet Performance at ASU, where he has served as one of Regents’ Professor David Hickman’s Graduate Teaching Assistant.

As a soloist, Albrecht has performed numerous solo and lecture recitals and has multiple solo appearances, including performances for International Trumpet Institute in France and with the University of Michigan’s University Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed concerts of sacred works in churches across the United States and has appeared on worldwide Christian television station 3ABN.

As a collaborative artist and an orchestral trumpeter, Albrecht plays solo and repiano cornet with the Salt River Brass and trumpet with the MusicaNova Orchestra. He has performed as principal trumpet with the University of Michigan’s University Symphony Orchestra, the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra, and Michigan and ASU wind bands. He is a former member of the Siberian Valiance Brass Quintet.

As an educator, Albrecht is a frequent guest at junior and high schools to present master classes and sectionals. He has taught trumpet from the beginner to the college level. He recently worked as a Teaching Assistant at Arizona State University, and has taught for the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts and as a freelance trumpet instructor. He also appeared as a guest artist and clinician at Bowling Green State University’s Brass Camp.

Albrecht recently placed 2nd in the 2013 International Trumpet Guild Orchestral Excerpt Competition and alternate (4th place) for the ITG Solo Competition. Additionally, he has been a semi-finalist in the National Trumpet Competition.

Albrecht holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from Bowling Green State University, Master of Music degrees in Trumpet Performance and Chamber Music from the University of Michigan, and is currently finishing his doctoral studies in Trumpet Performance at Arizona State University.  His principal teachers include Regents Professor David Hickman (Arizona State University), William Campbell (University of Michigan), and Charles Saenz (Bowling Green State University).
